‘Fearful to Fearless’: How 1 Man Gained The Courage To Quit His Job and Pursue His Passion

This post contributed by Julianna Lembeck, our Content / Operations Oversight Intern here at The Gateway Method.

Do you ever feel like you just want more?

More from life…your job…or yourself?

Maybe you’re comfortable because you’ve got a job that pays, and that’s good enough for now.  But what about 6 months from now?

A year from now…

Or 5 years from now?

Would you be happy with your life, and yourself, if you were still in the same position 5 years from now?

If not, it may be time to make some moves and take some action.

Meet Our Inspiring Friend, Lerato

Just the other day, a note came in from a gentleman named Lerato, all the way from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Lerato worked at various engineering-consulting jobs. He didn’t like any of them, so he decided to take up teaching instead.

In the beginning, he loved teaching. But after 3 years, Lerato didn’t find the work mentally stimulating anymore. He felt disengaged and like so many of us, he wanted more from his career.

Lerato considered jumping back into engineering, but felt limited. From his previous experience, he knew being an engineer-consultant made him miserable. But he didn’t know what else he could do with engineering.

Then He Came Across The Gateway Method

As Lerato explains:

I had fears that only ‎consulting companies will ever consider me, but Gateway Method opened my eyes to unorthodox ways of getting myself noticed and of approaching potential employers.

The Gateway Method provided me with the guidelines to follow to get myself out there and most importantly with the encouragement I needed to embark on my career search journey.

The most important lesson I took from The Gateway Method is that I should know exactly what I want and go after it.”

With this tiny nudge of inspiration from our community, Lerato was able to tap into his courage and leave his career in teaching to pursue his passion in engineering once again.

You Can Get More Out Of Your Career, Too…

Remember: If you feel stuck or afraid and want more from your career and life, you aren’t alone, and you don’t have to stay that way.

Because here’s the good news… feeling frustrated and unsatisfied are kickstart ingredients for revamping your life and career.

And acknowledging those feelings naturally leads you to the truth of the matter: You deserve more!

You deserve to feel fulfilled by your work, and have the opportunity to contribute to organizations that need and appreciate your unique skill-set.

And once you decide that you deserve more… somehow, it just starts to happen.

Like Lerato, who views the working world a bit differently now. As he puts it:

“I won’t ever have to settle for jobs that I don’t really want nor stay in jobs I don’t like anymore and I’ll always get myself the exact position I want.”

Here at The Gateway Method, we believe that it’s YOUR turn to feel this way about your work. Don’t you?

If you haven’t yet seen the free video that inspired Lerato and gave him the small nudge he needed, you can check it out right here…

If you’re ready to get more from your life and your job, then you’re going to love it :).

Cheers to getting more out of life!

-A very special thanks to Lerato (Johannesburg, South Africa) for allowing us to share his story and words with our Gateway Method community.
